Hi All I have a birding trip prepared for Bhutan in April 2012 for April 9 through May 1.April is during the dry season making for easy birding. This will allow us to be present for the return of spring migrants allowing a maximum number of species. I have had a few people request this trip. Bhutan is situated in the western Himalayas with a temperate climate, making it a break from hot and humid tropical birding. I have arranged an experienced Bhutanese guide. There will be some camping in tented lodges, allowing us instant access to birding. The level of lodging in Bhutan is much less than many other countries and not available in some locations. Physical activity is moderate. Camp staff will provide meals and deliver our gear. We can expect to see 300 or so species with a large percentage of them being Himalayan endemics. We will visit one Buddhist dzong. The estimated cost is $5800 plus estimated airfare of $1599 to Delhi for 23 days. Bhutan is somewhat higher than most trips per day due to a government tax. Also, the number of visitors is limited to 15,000 and authorized local guides are required. Good birding, Norm |
